Green Los Angeles

the theme for #FriFotos on Twitter today is "green," so I thought I'd take
the opportunity to point out how green Los Angeles is, for those of you who
haven't experienced it for yourselves. It's not just that we have vast parks
and are surrounded by forested mountains, but the sprawling neighborhoods and
city center are all lined with trees. From rows of palms to flowering trees
of every hue to deciduous trees that change colors with our mild seasons,
visitors are often surprised by the sheer number and diversity of LA's trees,
many of which were planted in the last few decades to help alleviate the
